Key Personnel
KEI is led by Dr. Tomasz Kuder, who holds a Ph.D. in Organic Geochemistry. From 2000 to 2024, Dr. Kuder served as a Research Scientist at the University of Oklahoma, where he provided technical and then administrative supervision of the university's Compound-Specific Stable Isotope Analysis (CSIA) laboratory. During that time, he supervised CSIA analysis and reporting for over 1,000 individual site assessment projects involving MtBE, benzene, chlorinated ethenes, ethylene dibromide, 1,4-dioxane, and oil and gas exploration sites, and has provided expert technical opinions in litigation matters involving CSIA forensics. 

Dr. Kuder's research has helped shape how CSIA is used in the field today. His work provided some of the first field demonstrations of anaerobic MtBE biodegradation, which became a major factor in the acceptance of natural attenuation as a cost-effective remedy for MtBE-contaminated sites and helped establish CSIA as a routine site-assessment tool. He also contributed to early development of two- and three-dimensional (multi-element) CSIA methods for distinguishing contaminant degradation pathways, and to novel methods for hydrogen isotope analysis and for VOC vapor intrusion assessment. His research (h-index 18) has been cited over 1,500 times, including citation of several of his papers in Environmental Organic Chemistry (Wiley), a standard reference textbook in the field.

​Company Profile
KEI was formed in 2024, reaching full laboratory capability in the first quarter of 2025. The laboratory is located in Norman, Oklahoma, USA. The company specializes in compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA) lab services and consulting, with a primary focus on VOC-class environmental contaminants and also analyzes components of natural gas and crude oil. KEI hosts a range of instrumentation for compound-specific isotope and compositional characterization of environmental and hydrocarbon samples. The workhorse instrument for isotope analysis is a Thermo Scientific Delta Q isotope ratio mass spectrometry system with a TRACE 1610 GC peripheral, installed in early 2025. Other instrumentation includes GC/MSD; a GC configured as an add-on to the GC/IRMS for two-dimensional chromatographic separation of complex organic mixtures; purge-and-trap units with autosamplers; and a thermal desorption unit with an autosampler.
